ASOSAI

The 2nd meeting of the 8th ASOSAI research project on “Environment Audit Guidelines” was held in Being, China from 23-25 January 2008. The second meeting was to assess the environment concerns in all ASOSAI member nations. The 2nd meeting has been attended by all the 6 members of the research team from the SAIs of China, India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The title of the research project has been changed from “Environment Audit Guidelines” to “Guidance on conducting Environmental Audit”. This change is in compliance with the suggestions and approval in the 38th meeting of the Governing Board of ASOSAI held in Kuwait in September 2008 wherein it was considered that “Guidance on conducting Environmental Audit” is more practical approach in view of the fact that the regulation for Governing the environment and audit of the environment are different in different ASOSAI nations.
Besides the methodology of guidance, the research team fixed the responsibilities of the team members against the items of work as envisaged in the Road map. The Road map has been made much more exhaustive with clear cut responsibilities and at the same time the final target time has been kept the same.
As per the schedule the a draft report would be sent to all members for suggestion by March 2009 and
A report would be presented to the ASOSAI Secretariat by May 2009.

The 3rd meeting of the 8th ASOSAI Research Project on “Guidance on conducting Environmental Audit” is being hosted by SAI-Malaysia from 20-24 July 2008 at Kula Lumpur.

The 4th and the 5th meeting of the 8th ARP would bee held December 2008 in Pakistan and March 2009 in S. Arabia respeectively.
