6th ASOSAI Research Project

ASOSAI has successfully completed five research projects on the following topics approved by its Governing Board.

#

Subject
Accountability and Control of Public Enterprises
Financial Accountability and Management in Government
Audit of Public Works and Projects
  Govt. Revenues-Accountability & Audit
  Performance Audit Guidelines

To decide on a topic for the sixth ASOSAI Research Project, the Secretary General of ASOSAI conducted a survey among the member countries. In this survey, a list of 12 topics of the seminar was circulated, requesting each SAI to give its preference of topic for the theme of the 6th Project. The response of the member countries is overwhelming and we have received replies from almost all the member countries. However, the final decision about the topic of the project and the research team will be taken during the next Governing Board Meeting, which is scheduled in Manila, Philippines in Oct.2002.

Next Phase of LTRTP

LTRTP Created A Pool of 27 Certified Training Specialists in 1998 who have professional capability in designing and delivering training courses on audit topics. These training Specialists then designed and delivered four regional workshops in LTRTP from 1998 to 2000. They also delivered three ASOSAI Sponsored Workshops in 2001 and 2002.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a New Technical Assistance Project for ASOSAI with a primary goal to enhance its training capabilities through further strengthening of the pool of Training Specialists established in the Long Term Regional Training Programme (LTRTP).

The core activity in the new Project is a seven week long workshop to train 25 additional Training Specialists, which will be designed and delivered by selected training specialists from the existing pool. The first workshop Course Design and Instructional Techniques (CDITW) is planned in October 2002 in Thailand. There will be two Regional workshops in 2003 and each will be preceded by preparatory meetings. The venues of the workshops in 2003 will be decided later.

As the administrator SAI of ASOSAI Training Programmes, the Board of Audit, Japan, is assisting the Secretary General of ASOSAI in the planning, coordination and implementation of this Project. The SAI Japan will send all the member SAIs "Workshop Announcements and Invitation" and other documents before each workshop.
