Mr. Hikmat Mizban Al-Azzawi President,
Board of Supreme Audit Iraq

As reported in the 1995 issue of this Journal, Mr. Hikmat Mizban Ibrahim Al-Azzawi has taken over as the President of the Board of Supreme Audit of Iraq, succeeding Mr. Daham Abid Al- Rashid.

Mr. Al-Azzawi has had a distinguished career in the service of the Government of Iraq. A licentiate in trade and economics in 1956, he has served as Chief of the Administrative Council of General Trade Institutions, Deputy Minister and subsequently Minister of Economy, Minister of Foreign Trade, Acting Minister of Domestic Trade and Chief of the Economic Affairs Bureau in the Revolutionary Command Council. Mr. Al-Azzawi served as President of the Board of Supreme Audit in 1984, before being appointed as Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq. Prior to his appointment as Head of the Supreme Audit Institution of Iraq in 1995, Mr. Al-Azzawi was a Counsellor in the Presidency of the Iraqi Republic.

Mr. Barrak Khaled Al-Marzouq President,
State Audit Bureau Kuwait

Mr. Barrak Khaled Al-Marzou"q took over as the President of the State Audit Bureau of Kuwait on August 21, 1995, succeeding Mr. Faris Abdul A.R. Al Wagayan.

Born on February 1, 1939, Mr. Al-Marzouq obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce in 1965 from Cairo University. He has held several key positions in the Ministry of Finance including as Researcher, Expenditure Controller, Budgeting Manager and Under Secretary, before his appointment as Vice-President of the State Audit Bureau in August 1993. Mr. Al-Marzouq has been a member of the Board of Directors of several Kuwaiti public enterprises including the Kuwait Transportation Company, the Business Settlement Establishment and the Burgan Bank. He has also been president of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Transportation Company and General Supervisor of the Shares Liquidation Office.

Mr. Kubanychbek Idinov Chairman,
Chamber of Control Kyrgyzstan

The Chamber of Control of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is the SAI of Kyrgyzstan, was admitted to ASOSAI with effect from November 24, 1995. Mr. Kubanychbek Idinov is the Head of the SAI.

Born in 1949, Mr. Idinov passed out of the Kyrgyz State National University in 1970 and subsequently obtained a Ph.D. in 1976 and D.Sc. in 1993 on problems of economics. After serving as an officer in the Army, Mr.Idinov served in the Academy of Sciences and subsequently on the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzia. From 1986 to 1988, he attended the Russian Academy of Government (management) and thereafter served as Chairman of the Issic-kul District Executive Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Narinsk Regional Council of Peoples Deputies and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme Soviet (Parliament) on International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, before his appointment as Chairman of the Chamber of Control in December 1992. Mr. Idinov is also a Professor at the International University of Kyrgyzstan and a Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Mr. Tawfik Ibrahim Tawfik,
State Minister and President, General Auditing Bureau Saudi Arabia

Mr. Tawfik Ibrahim Mohammed Tawfik was appointed as the State Minister and President of the General Auditing Bureau of Saudi Arabia, succeeding Mr. Omar A. Fakieh.

Born in 1938, Mr. Tawfik acquired a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Cairo University in 1962 and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1970. He joined the Ministry of Commerce in 1962 and served in various capacities before taking over as Under-secretary for Supplies in 1978. Prior to his appointment as President of the General Auditing Bureau, Mr. Tawfik was a member of the Shoura Council. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of several Saudi Arabian public entities, including the National Agriculture Development Company, Saudi Railways Public Corporation, Saudi Food Company, Saudi Fishery Company, Public Corporation for Silos and Flour Mills and Saudi Industrial Development Fund. He has also been a member of the Central Committee for Pilgrimage and has participated in a number of economic and technical Saudi-foreign joint committees and in various international university programmes and seminars.
