ASOSAI in cooperation with the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) organised two workshops for the member SAIs during the year 1991. Both the workshops were funded by the Asian Development Bank and IDI.
The first one on 'Computer Auditing' was hosted by SAI, Thailand at Bangkok from June 24 to July 5,1991. This two-week workshop was a first-level course in the audit of EDP systems to provide participants with a brief review of the basics of EDP and focused mainly on EDP controls and the audit of EDP systems. 27 participants from 13 member SAIs of Brunei, China, Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand, and the SAI of Singapore attended the workshop.

The Second ASOSAI-IDI workshop on 'Audit Testing' was hosted by SAI India at New Delhi during December 2-13,1991. The purpose of the workshop was to improve, where needed, the quality and efficiency of financial audit practices in SAIs of the ASOSAI region through a better understanding of the audit model, strategy and testing methods and techniques outlined in the Public Audit Manual brought out by the National Audit Office UK under the aegis of Commonwealth Training Initiative.

The Audit Testing Workshop was attended by 27 participants from 15 member SAIs of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and United Arab Emirates and the SAI of Hongkong.
The International Training Centre in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India at New Delhi organises three training courses every year in various audit disciplines for officers of SAIs in the Asian, African and the Pacific regions. The topics of the three programmes during the year 1991 were Audit of Public Enterprises, Audit of Transport Services and Audit of Public Works & Projects. While the programme on Audit of Public Enterprises was held from 7 March 1991 to 19 April 1991, those of Audit of Transport Services and Audit of Public Works & Projects were conducted during September 9 - October 23,1991 and December 9, 1991 to January 22, 1992 respectively. In these three programmes 92 officers from 27 SAIs including India participated. These programmes were funded by the Government of India under the various assistance plans.

The Board of Audit, Japan in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organised a seminar on Computer Auditing during July 1-August 7,1991. The thrust of the seminar was to give participants an opportunity to study and discuss various aspects of computer audit such as audit of Computer installations and computer assisted audit techniques so as to enhance their audit capabilities. It was attended by 15 participants from twelve SAIs.
