The 20th and 21st Meetings of the Governing Board of ASOSAI were held at New Delhi on November 12, 1994 and November 19, 1994 just prior to and after the 6th Assembly and 5th International Seminar. The Board decided to establish two committees for
The first committee would consist of representatives of SAIs of India, Japan, China and Australia, with SAI -Australia as the Convenor. The second committee would have representatives of SAIs of India, Indonesia, Korea, Saudi Arabia and Japan as its members, with SAI-Japan as the Convenor. It was also decided that the next meeting of the Board would be held at Bangkok in July 1995.
Mr. John Taylor, Auditor General of Australia was nominated to the Governing Board at the 6th Assembly and 5th International Seminar in place of Mr. S.M. Sabry, Auditor General of Sri Lanka, who was appointed as Special Adviser to the Governing Board. Subsequently Mr. Pat Barrett, the new Auditor General of Australia took over as a member of the Governing Board with effect from May 2, 1995, succeeding Mr. John Taylor.
Mr. Dato' Mohd. Khalil bin Dato' Mohd. Noor took over as a member of the Auditing Committee, consequent on his appointment as Auditor General of Malaysia with effect from July 1,1994 in place of Tan Sri Ishak Tadin.
The third ASOSAI research project on 'Audit of Public Works and Projects" which was approved in the 19th Governing Board Meeting of ASOSAI at Sydney, is being jointly undertaken by Malaysia, India and China. Contributions have been received from most of the member SAIs of ASOSAI, and the final output is expected to be finalised shortly.
In pursuance of the recommendations of the ASOSAI Workshop on Computer Auditing, the database of ASOSAI Computer Experts being maintained by the ASOSAI Secretariat is being updated comprehensively. A survey has been conducted, wherein member SAIs had been asked to update the names of computer experts belonging to their SAI, as also their inventory of EDP skills.
A delegation from ASOSAI, consisting of Mr. C.G. Somiah, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Mr. Shinji Yazaki, President, Board of Audit, Japan, Mr. Celso D.Gangan, Chairman, Commission on Audit of Philippines, accompanied by Mr. Yvan Gaudette, Executive Vice-President, INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) met the President of the Asian Development Bank, Mr. Mitsuo Sato in Manila in January 1995, in connection with the ASOSAI-IDI Joint Proposal to the ADB for financial assistance in support of the ASOSAI-IDI Regional Training Programme 1996-2000.
