Auditor General of Nepal Mr. Bhanu Prasad Acharya submitted his resignation from the position on June 22, 2016. His resignation comes 16 days before his retirement date as he was retiring on July 8, 2016 due to age limit prescribed in the Constitution.
On June 22, 2016, Mr. Acharya called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and submitted the resignation as per Article 240(4A) of the Constitution.
Mr. Acharya was appointed as Auditor General on May 8, 2013.
Upon resignation of Mr. Acharya, senior Deputy Auditor General Mr. Sukudev Khatry assumes the role of Acting Auditor General as per prevailing laws.
